Basilica Julia Self-researched

Location: Roman Forum, Rome
Date: Begun 46 BC by Julius Caesar; completed by Augustus 12 AD

A large civil basilica that served as the headquarters for the centumviri, a judicial court dealing with matters of inheritance. The three-story marble structure was one of the largest buildings in the Forum. Today only the foundations, steps, and a few column bases and brick piers remain. Game boards scratched into the marble steps by bored Romans can still be seen.
