The main street of ancient Rome, leading from the top of the Capitoline Hill, through the Forum, to the Colosseum. Roman generals celebrated triumphs along this route, processing through the Forum to the Temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline. The original basalt paving stones are still visible in many sections.
