Fra Bartolommeo
Born: March 28, 1472, Florence Died: October 6, 1517, Florence
Italian Renaissance painter of religious subjects. Also known as Baccio della Porta, he became a Dominican friar after the execution of Savonarola in 1498 and gave up painting for several years before resuming. His work influenced Raphael and helped shape the High Renaissance style.
