Italian architect originating from today's Canton Ticino, partly responsible for the classicizing direction taken by Late Baroque Roman architecture. He redesigned the Temple of Hadrian in the 1690s, incorporating the surviving eleven Corinthian columns into a new building for the Dogana di Terra (customs house) at Piazza di Pietra, which now serves as Rome's Chamber of Commerce.
